Dispatch-IQ Driver App

A driver-facing enterprise application designed to simplify route execution, delivery workflows, and real-time trip management.

Dispatch-IQ was created to transform complex dispatch operations into a seamless field experience for drivers. The product balances operational efficiency with usability by reducing friction throughout every stage of the delivery workflow - from route navigation and stop management to proof of service and real-time communication. Designed with scalability, accessibility, and consistency at its core, the mobile application enables drivers to complete critical tasks quickly and confidently while remaining tightly connected to dispatch operations.

ROLE

PROJECT TIMELINE

May 2025 – Currently in UAT

I mapped the complete driver workflow to identify opportunities for automation, reduce manual actions, and simplify decision-making throughout each trip. The final experience guides drivers from assignment to delivery while minimizing errors and supporting efficient, time-sensitive operations.

END TO END DRIVER WORKFLOW

The end-to-end driver workflow combines automation, GPS, and location-based triggers to streamline trip execution from assignment to completion. Intelligent status updates and validations reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and keep drivers focused on the road.

SYSTEM FLOW OVERVIEW

Dispatch-IQ supports two primary driver types: internal NYBC drivers and external courier partners. While both complete the same core delivery workflow, their responsibilities, permissions, and information needs differ. Designing role-based experiences allowed the application to present the right actions, data, and level of detail for each user while maintaining a consistent experience.

UNDERSTANDING DRIVER ROLES

I evaluated leading delivery platforms to identify workflow patterns that improve speed, clarity, and operational efficiency. These insights informed key design decisions throughout Dispatch-IQ.

INDUSTRY BENCHMARKING

Designed the core driver happy path for fast, predictable trips. Prioritized one-tap actions, clear statuses, and automated step progression, keeping screens task-focused and critical info always visible. The result: reduced cognitive load, fewer errors, and friction-free driving.

DESIGNING THE CORE DRIVER JOURNEY

STARTING THE TRIP: The opening workflow establishes everything drivers need for a successful trip, combining trip details, required validations, and navigation into a clear, distraction-free experience.

VALIDATING THE PICKUP: Before leaving the pickup location, drivers scan each shipment to verify accuracy. Automated barcode validation confirms a successful match and helps prevent incorrect or incomplete deliveries.

DELIVERY EXECUTION: Drivers are guided through each delivery with clear progress tracking, location-aware workflows, and barcode verification to ensure every delivery is completed accurately before moving to the next stop.

COMPLETING THE DELIVERY: Before a delivery can be finalized, drivers capture a recipient signature and photo confirmation to verify successful handoff. Once complete, the stop is automatically updated and the trip progresses to the next delivery or final completion.

The MVP established the foundation for a scalable enterprise dispatch platform centered on operational efficiency and driver usability. As the product evolves, future iterations will expand automation, strengthen real-time operational visibility, and support additional transportation workflows. Every design decision was made with long-term scalability, consistency, and extensibility in mind.
